How to Inspect Stamping Dies Prior to Hardware Stamping Production
Hardware stamping manufacturing relies heavily on refined process details. Different precautions are required for pre-production, in-process and post-production stages of stamping. Below, the technical team from Bosi Hardware elaborates on the pre-production inspection procedures for stamping dies, as listed:
- Verify the integrity and legibility of die markings, and confirm the selected die matches specifications against relevant process documents.
- Check overall die condition: inspect punch and die sets for cracks, dents and deformation; check exposed screws for looseness; verify sharp cutting edges for blanking dies.
- Ensure top and bottom die plates as well as machine worktable are clean; confirm proper lubrication between guide pins and guide bushes.
- Cross-check incoming raw materials against process specifications to avoid die and press damage caused by non-compliant stock.
- Confirm the stamping press is appropriately rated and compatible with the installed die.
- Inspect proper die mounting on the press and ensure clamping bolts for upper/lower dies are fully tightened.
Complete all pre-installation die inspections thoroughly. Only after confirming zero abnormalities can the die be mounted onto the stamping machine for trial production. For more know-how on hardware stamping processing, follow Bosi Hardware’s official website:
